A’Saffa Foods says its RO45mn expansion project on track
A’Saffa Foods Co, Oman’s largest fully-integrated poultry producer, said that its RO45mn strategic expansion project, which aims to boost the company’s chicken meat production capacity by 100 per cent, will be completed in two phases.
“A’Saffa Foods’ strategic expansion project to raise chicken meat production capacity by 100 per cent at their farm-site in Thumrait is on track and will be completed in two phases - with each phase contributing 50 per cent to the new capacity,” Eng Mohammed Suhail al Shanfari, CEO of A’Saffa Foods said in a press statement.
He said, “A’Saffa Foods’ poultry processing complex expansion includes setting up of 90 new broiler houses and hatchery equipment in phase 1 of the project. In phase 2, a new processing plant, feed mill and electricity overhead line will be added.”
Shanfari said the strategic expansion and upgradation will help A’Saffa Foods to process 12,000 birds per hour, helping the company achieve greater efficiency and output. “Once operational, the facility will increase our annual slaughtering capacity to 44mn birds, bringing the company’s capacity to produce 160 tonnes per day; thereby expanding annual poultry meat production to 42,000 metric tonnes.”
Muhammad Rafique Chaudhry, chief financial officer of A’Saffa Foods said, “Through the expansion, the company aims to continue in its endeavour to foster and support food security, self-sufficiency; while creating increased employment opportunities in the sultanate. Total capital expenditure of the expansion is RO45mn.”
