CBO issues RO58mn treasury bills
A tender of the government treasury bills (issue No 495) was held at the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) on Tuesday. The total value of the allotted treasury bills amounted to RO57.99mn, for a maturity period of 91 days, from today until October 2.
The average accepted price reached RO99.418 for every RO100 bill, while the minimum accepted price arrived at RO99.410. The average discount rate and the average yield reached 2.333 per cent and 2.3467 per cent, respectively.
Interest rate on the repo operations with the CBO is 2.888 per cent for the period from June 2 to July 8, while the discount rate on the treasury bills discounting facility with the CBO is 3.638 per cent for the same period.
Treasury bills are short-term highly secured financial instruments issued by the CBO on behalf of the Omani government. These instruments help the licensed commercial banks to gainfully invest their surplus funds, with added advantage of ready liquidity through discounting and repurchase facilities offered by the central bank.
