CBO president receives Standard Chartered’s group chairman

H E Tahir bin Salim al Amri, executive president of the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) on Tuesday received José Viñals, group chairman of Standard Chartered in his office at the CBO.

Viñals was accompanied by a delegation, which included, Sunil Kaushal, regional CEO, Middle East and Africa at Standard Chartered Bank, a press release said.

The officials discussed a number of topics, including the impact of the global economic and geopolitical developments on the GCC region’ resource-dependent economies, and the impact of the economic diversification policies adopted by the GCC countries as a measure to counter the negative effects on their respective economies.

As part of the discussions, the officials also discussed the importance of incorporating elements of diversification into the financial policies, development of local investor base and the fundamental requisites of the market ecosystem.

Other officials who attended the meeting included the executive vice president, vice presidents and officials from various departments of the Central Bank of Oman.
