KPMG to hold workshop on implementation of amendments to tax law

March 12, 2017

KPMG is hosting a detailed workshop today to address in detail the practical implementation and compliance of the significant amendments to Oman’s income tax law.

The workshop is targeted at the finance and tax executives of the organisations, according to a press release.

KPMG received a tremendous response from its tax seminar which was organised for C-suite executives last week.

Ashok Hariharan, partner and head of tax for KPMG Lower Gulf, said the workshop will provide a more detailed analysis and address the questions of the attendees pertaining to the sweeping tax changes covering withholding tax on fees for services, interest payments and dividends on shares.

Hariharan said that the workshop will also cover KPMG tax team’s analysis and advice on the procedural aspects of tax compliance to be prospectively undertaken by businesses in Oman. These include procedures related to e-filing, withholding tax, and assessment of tax returns.

Over 150 professionals, comprising of chief financial officers, finance and tax managers and other senior managerial personnel from within and outside Oman, are expected to attend the workshop.

The tax workshop will provide clarity on the course of action that business establishments need to follow to ensure correct and efficient tax management within their businesses as per Oman’s amended income-tax law framework.

KPMG has been providing tax services in Oman for over 40 years with their partner, Hariharan, being in the country for over 30 years.
