MSM extends trading session to 4 hours from November 1
The Muscat Securities Market (MSM) announced that its board of directors agreed to extend the daily trading session to four hours, from 10am to 2pm, from November 1st.
Currently, the normal trading session at the MSM is of three hours from 10am to 1pm.
A circular, addressed to executive heads and general managers of securities companies, explained that the extension of daily trading hours comes at the request of the board of directors of the Omani Securities Association.
The circular confirmed that initially the extension of trading hours will be for a six months period. The experience will be assessed on monthly basis to find out the feasibility of extension on the market activity.
Dr Ahmed bin Said Kashoob, chairman of the Omani Securities Association, said that the extension of the daily trading hours to four hours is applied in many stock exchanges and is in line with the period of opening and closing markets of the region and some international markets due to time differences.
He said that this extension will allow investors to follow up the market and its continuity in trading, whether through brokerage firms or direct investment.
