Second edition of OPAL Oil & Gas Conference begins
The second edition of OPAL Oil & Gas Conference 2018 kick-started on Sunday at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre under the auspice of H E Salim bin Nasser al Aufi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil and Gas.
The conference is being attended by hundreds of delegates including representatives of Oman’s major hydrocarbon producers, service providers and other private firms. Along with the conference, an exhibition featuring various companies operating in different segments of oil and gas sector is also taking place.
The three-day conference, organised by Oman Society for Petroleum Engineers (OPAL) and Omanexpo, is focusing on the theme ‘Shaping the future of Oman’s oil and gas industry’, highlighting the sultanate’s initiatives to continue investment in oil exploration and discovery, OPAL said in a press release.
Speaking at the inauguration of the event, H E Aufi emphasised on the need of adopting new technologies to improve efficiency and job creation in oil and gas exploration and production. He also noted that the whole sector is now facing the fourth industrial revolution.
OPAL CEO Musallam al Mandhari said, “The OPAL Oil & Gas Conference provides a great platform for oil and gas professionals to share their knowledge, build business prospects and create partnerships through networking and identify solutions and shape strategies with industry experts.”
He said it is no secret that oil and gas industry is facing enormous demands and challenges, therefore the need of the hour is to find innovative and efficient solutions to maximise resources in the sultanate.
