“What do you do here all day?”
Life has its own strange ways. When you are dependent, you do not realise that in fact, you are at the most liberated stage of your life. As you grow older and attain that much coveted independence, a new stage of your life unfolds, one of boundaries and constraints.
I am not one to hide my age. I’ve always considered advancing age as a sign of wisdom and embraced each passing year with pride. Sometimes I even recall my younger days of hasty decisions and immature opinions with a hint of embarrassment.
We just got back from Canada. It was the first time we went back after moving to Oman a couple of years ago. The trip was everything we had dreamed of. The flight was everything we had not.
It is summer, the season of long lazy afternoons and empty idle hours of wonder. I remember well the endless afternoons of lemonade stalls and sprinklers and long walks in the neighbourhood to see if anything interesting could be found.
