The ‘Five Find-Outers’ are back after their Baltic adventures! While they gamboled on the cobbled streets of Tallinn and savoured the beauty of Vilnius and the wooded narrow streets of Riga, unknown to my significant other, who was one of the Famous Five partaking in that gamboling, another significant - other of my bygone era, silently turned a young 121 this week on the August 11.
Arrivederci, Adios, Au Revoir, Adieu, auf Wiedersehen, Alvida, Maa’salama July...as the birthday month of Julius Caesar cries out ‘Et tu Augustus’, we heave a sigh of relief and hope that the ‘Samoon’ or ‘Shamal’ also dies down with it, and we get some reprieve from this torrid heat. We are now ready to welcome the new month, the one named after Caesar’s adopted son and heir Augustus.
What a month it has been…from the incandescent heat of Muscat to the cooler climes of London, thereafter to the gorgeous evenings of Bangalore followed by the rain and ensuing humidity of Calcutta to finally end up once again, with the incandescent heat topped with the oppressive humidity of Muscat. A full circle completed - almost like the ‘Circle of Life’ which so succinctly expounds:
