Athletes, environmentalists to take part in XDubai Spartan Race tomorrow

November 22, 2017

Jebel Sifah, hosts of the upcoming XDubai Spartan Race, has issued a final call for registrations to Oman’s second XDubai Spartan Race to be held on Friday.

The highly popular event has already attracted participants ranging from female athletes to environmentalists, with up to 4,000 Spartans from Oman, the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and beyond set to attend. Marwa Wadhahi, a member of the sultanate’s national team at the Spartan World Championship last September, will be on hand to highlight the importance of female empowerment through sports during the day-long event, stated a press release.

As part of its efforts to encourage participation, Jebel Sifah will be supporting Marwa and all women-Spartans looking to enjoy the sultanate’s second Spartan Race event. Additionally, renowned NGO, the Environment Society of Oman, has launched the #sprintforoman campaign in conjunction with the Spartan Race to encourage residents to give back to the environment.

The campaign asks contestants to pledge donations for each kilometre and obstacle they complete on Friday’s race, with all proceeds going to the society’s Turtle Conservation Project. With two adult courses and a course for children, this year’s edition is expected to attract over 4,000 sportsmen, women and children, to what has quickly become the world’s fastest growing sport and one of the most anticipated events on Oman’s athletics calendar.

The event will feature the Spartan Sprint, a 5+KM race with more than 20 thrilling obstacles that represent a perfect introduction to the Spartan lifestyle for all first timers and new for this year, the Spartan Super, where racers can test themselves over 12km and 25 obstacles.
