Cycling to promote tourism in Salalah
A cycling expedition is being organised in Salalah on Monday to promote tourism.
The Directorate General of Tourism in Dhofar, Hawana Salalah and Muriya have come together to organise the event called ‘The Road to Hawana’.
Speaking to Muscat Daily , Ahmed al Ansi, one of the supervisors of the event and a staff member at the Directorate General of Tourism in Dhofar said, “Our aim is to support Oman’s tourism and promote cycling as a sport among the community.
“The one-hour cycling expedition will begin at 4pm and expected to cover 12km.
“It will start at Kout Hamran and finish at the Hawana Salalah Marsa site.”
Ansi said that the expedition aims to highlight tourist attractions, the Hawana Aqua Park and other landscapes in Salalah. “We have already registered about 70 participants and hoping to have another 40 join us before the start of the event.
“There will be a lecture on the importance of sports too. We will distribute food, beverages and first-aid to participants.”
