Forum discusses role of digital technologies in governance
The Information Technology Authority (ITA), in cooperation with Microsoft Oman, on Tuesday organised the 4.0 Digital Trends Forum under the theme ‘The role of 4.0 IR technologies in government transformation’.
The forum was held at the Cultural Centre in Sultan Qaboos University, in the presence of Dr Salim bin Sultan al Ruzaiqi, CEO of ITA, and a number of IT professionals in the sultanate. The forum is part of the efforts exerted by ITA to implement the e.oman strategy to transform Oman into a knowledge society. It aims to spread the culture of digital awareness in the community, targeting public and private sector entities, academics, decision makers and IT professionals.
“The Fourth Industrial Revolution is upon us and technologies such as Artificial Intelligence will form its backbone,” said Omar bin Salim al Shanfari, deputy CEO of ITA for Operations.
Microsoft Partners also participated in the forum to demonstrate their AI-based solutions built on the Microsoft intelligent Cloud to drive productivity, increase mobility and innovate new digital services for citizens.
A recent Microsoft study revealed that more than 29 per cent of organisations in the Gulf region plan to adopt AI in the years to come, and over half (51 per cent) considered cloud computing a priority.
