Huawei Oman starts second internship programme
Huawei Oman has begun the second internship programme for 2019.
The training is part of Huawei’s social responsibility programme to equip students with ICT knowledge and skills so that they can be ready for jobs and promote the development of the ICT industry in Oman.
The inaugural event was attended by Mohammad al Kindi, VP, Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), Prof Haj Bordosen, dean of Engineering College, Sultan Qaboos University, and Ali Abdul Hussain al Lawati, planning and training expert, Omantel.
“Huawei has not only been attracting and developing a talented workforce, but we also started a CSR programme with the aim of changing the recruitment model from ‘Hunting to farming’ in collaboration with TRA, Omantel and Sultan Qaboos University in order to develop the next generation of ICT talent, enhance knowledge transfer, promote a greater understanding of telecommunications sector, and improve regional building and participation in the digital community,” the company stated.
Through this internship programme, every quarter, Huawei Oman trains around a batch of 30 talented students providing them hands-on-experience on the latest tools and technology in the ICT world. The best among these are hired to pursue a career at Huawei.
In Oman, Huawei is committed to working with the government, academia, and business community towards Vision 2020 by contributing to the development of the ICT ecosystem.
