MoH gets ready to launch Patient Safety Initiative
The Ministry of Health (MoH) organised a preparatory workshop to launch the Patient Safety Initiative in primary healthcare on Sunday.
The workshop was held under the patronage of H E Dr Mohammed bin Saif al Hosni, Undersecretary for Health Affairs in MoH, at City Seasons Hotel.
It was held under the theme ‘Speak Up for Patient Safety’. MoH was represented by the Directorate General of Quality Assurance Centre (DGQAC) and the Directorate General of Primary Health Care (DGPHC).
DGQAC seeks to raise awareness on the concept of patient safety and the usage of international standards and implementing all means for its sustainability in order to spread the concept of patient safety among community members and health workers. The initiative also seeks to provide the staff with the tools and techniques that help them maintain the culture of patient safety in their institutions.
H E Dr Hosni praised the services of the primary healthcare.
Dr Qamra al Sariri, director general, DGQAC, pointed out that the significant role of the centre, in cooperation with DGPHC, is to spread the concept of patient safety and raise the quality of health services in primary health centres.
Amal Khamis bait Mustahil, head of patient safety at the DGQAC, explained the concepts and definitions of the international organisations.
