More than 108,000 avail NFC services
The number of passengers using the services of the National Ferries Company (NFC) stood at 108,628 during the first half of 2017 compared to 99,871 in the same period last year, recording a nine per cent growth rate.
NFC stated that the increase in the first half of 2017 was attributed to rise in the number of passengers and vehicles during the Eid al Fitr holidays during which 7,390 passengers travelled on board its ferries along with 1,763 vehicles.
The statistics showed that the growth in vehicles shipment rose to 27,976 during the first half of 2017 with a growth rate of 14 per cent compared to 24,640 vehicles carried in the same period last year.
The cargo volume carried on board NFC ferries reached 5,007 tonnes by the end of June 2017.
