Nearly a million visit Muscat Festival events

This year’s Muscat Festival, which ended on Saturday proved to be a big hit, recording 965,812 visitors. “Naseem Gardens attracted the maximum at 502,215 visitors while Amerat Park received 422,348. Other festival-related venues received 41,249 visitors,” Muscat Municipality, the festival organiser, said.

Visitors enjoyed various activities including cultural, recreational, family and sports. It had lectures, seminars, poetry evenings, specialised exhibitions, documentary screening and photography contest.

Speaking at the closing ceremony at Amerat Park on Saturday, H E Eng Mohsin bin Mohammed al Sheikh, chairman of Muscat Municipality, said, “The festival brings a lot of joy and pleasure to the Omani community, residents and tourists. The festival is an integral part of our society, especially for those living in cities to acquaint themselves with Oman’s rich culture and heritage.”

Tour of Oman which is being held as part of the festival activities will begin on February 16.
