Online registration for admissions in Indian schools in capital area begins

January 10, 2018

The online registration for admissions (KG I to Class IX) in Indian schools in the capital area for 2018-19 started on Wednesday. This is applicable for admissions in Indian School Muscat, Indian School Darsait, Indian School Wadi Kabir, Indian School Ghubra, Indian School Seeb and Indian School Ma’abela in addition to Indian School Muscat-Ghubra (ISM-G).

According to the Board of Directors of Indian schools in Oman, the tentative vacant seats in KG I are around 2,290. Of these, 1,780 are in the morning and 510 in the afternoon shifts. In KG II, there are only 168 seats in the morning shift. Of these, Indian School Ma’abela has 153.

Online registration can be done for admissions in KG I (morning shift) and KG II (afternoon shift) for the next academic year at ISM-G, the feeder school of Indian School Al Awabi, the board stated.

The centralised system with online registration(www.indianschoolsoman.com) introduced by the board facilitates the entire admission process in these schools.

The printout of the completed application form along with required documents can be submitted to any of the schools. A non-refundable processing fee of RO15 will be payable on each application. Schools will start accepting application forms from January 15.

Online registration and acceptance of the application forms in schools will be closed at 2pm on February 15.

Regarding the new Indian School Al Awabi, the board said that it is currently under construction and expected to be complete by the end of this year. “The school is expected to be operational for 2019-20.”

The opening of this school will ease the pressure on Indian schools in the capital area. Since 2016, ISM-G has been holding kindergarten classes in a villa in Ghubra, which is a feeder school for the upcoming Al Awabi school. “Students who are given admission in ISM-G will be shifted to Indian School Al Awabi when it becomes operational from the academic year 2019-20. ISM-G will cease to exist with the inauguration of Indian School Al Awabi,” the board stated. The school will have sections from KG I to Class VII and higher classes will be added in the future. It will be located near the Lulu warehouse in Al Ansab.
