Ramp to come up at Lima port to aid entry, exit of vehicles

April 19, 2017

The National Ferries Company (NFC) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MoAF) have announced the construction of a ramp at the port in Lima in Khasab. The ramp will help aid entry and exit of cars to and off the ferries.

The meeting held to discuss the construction of the ramp also decided to form a technical team to follow-up procedures for floating the tender and implementation of the project.

The project is expected to boost tourism in Khasab. NFC in 2011 launched the Khasab-Lima route on which it offers six trips a week. It also launched eight direct trips weekly between Lima and Dibba in Musandam in September 2015.

According to the statistics issued by NFC, it transported more than 5,900 passengers to Lima during the first quarter of 2017 and it is expected that passenger numbers will rise after the construction of the ramp.
