Saiq records season’s lowest at -0.1°C; weather to remain cool in coming days
Several parts of Oman are seeing a drop in temperature by several degrees and experiencing cold winter winds.
On Tuesday, the minimum temperature in Saiq, Dakhliyah dropped to -0.1°C.
In a statement, the Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) said that this is the lowest temperature recorded in Oman this winter yet.
After Saiq, the lowest temperatures recorded were 5.2°C in Yanqul, 6.3°C in Al Sininah, 7.6°C in Bidiyah, 7.9°C in Nizwa and 8°C in Samail.
In a forecast, the Met office has said that weather will remain cool in the coming days.
An official from the Jebel Shams Resort said, “The temperature recorded in Jebel Shams today [Tuesday] was 4°C and -0.1°C at the summit in Saiq which is located at around 3,000m above the sea level.”
About the prediction for Thursday, DGM stated, “Skies will remain clear with no chances of rain and weather will relatively remain cool. Musandam governorate and the coastal areas will experience moderate to fresh northeasterly winds. Light winds are likely to prevail across the rest of Oman.”
