Salalah receives more than 32,000 visitors
The number of visitors to Salalah was 32,152 during the period from June 21 to July 1, according to the latest statistics of Khareef Salalah Visitors 2017 Survey, conducted by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The figures indicate a significant increase of 12.9 per cent in the number of visitors compared to the same period of 2016, which amounted to about 14,283.
Statistics show that Omani visitors accounted for 29.9 per cent of the total tourists. This amounted to 9,602, an increase of 30.7 per cent over the same period last year.
Visitors from the Gulf countries stood at 5,391, comprising 16.8 per cent of the total.
UAE visitors accounted for 42 per cent of the Gulf travellers, followed by Saudi visitors at 34.6 per cent.
Asian visitors accounted for 41.5 per cent of the total number of visitors to the Governorate of Dhofar at 13,336. The number of visitors from Arab countries was 2,839, European countries about 607 and other nationalities at 377.
NCSI statistics show that 66.9 per cent of the visitors came via the land route while 33.1 per cent by flights.
The collection of khareef visitor data is being done round the clock and will continue until September 21.
