Sayyid Shihab felicitates youth for exemplary work
Delegated by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq al Said, Advisor to His Majesty the Sultan, presided over the sixth honouring ceremony of young people who have made an impact with their work and ideas in the GCC countries.
The ceremony felicitated youth who have excelled in public work, creative and cultural fields and sports. The ceremony was held on the sidelines of the meeting of ministers of youth and sports in the GCC.
It was held to encourage the efforts of youngsters who have made an impact with their work in the GCC countries.
Khalid bin Mohammed al Zubair, former chairman of Oman Olympic Committee and Sayyid Khalid bin Hamad al Busaidi, former chief of Oman Football Association were among those honoured at the event.
Busaidi said, “I am very happy to have been honoured. The honour coming from the GCC leaders and the ministers of youth and sports in the GCC countries highlights the importance of the role played by Gulf youth in social and sports renaissance.”
Khalid bin Mohammed al Zubair thanked the GCC Secretariat General for its kind gesture to felicitate the youth in the countries including athletes and institutions, who had a role in promoting joint cooperation among the GCC countries. Zubair highlighted the importance of sports and commended the role it plays in establishing harmony among people and countries.
