Shabab Oman II concludes participation in Aarhus festival
The Royal Navy of Oman’s vessel Shabab Oman II concluded its participation in the final long sailboat regatta of 2019, which was held in Aarhus, Denmark, from August 1 to 4.
The festival included cultural and sporting events and a crew parade through the city’s neighbourhoods. A huge crowd lined up to bid farewell to Shabab Oman II , which left the port after taking part in the festival.
The maritime festival was the last event that Shabab Oman II took part as part of its international journey to Europe themed ‘Masts of Glory and Peace’.
The vessel won the International Friendship Award for the long sailboat regatta in 2019 and many more honours. On Sunday, the ship hosted a reception that was attended by the honorary consul of the sultanate in Denmark, the commanders of the participating ships, and representatives of the Organising Committee of the Maritime Festival.
The crew members gave a brief history of the vessel, its travel route since its departure from the sultanate on April 15, in addition to highlighting the cultural, economic and tourist potentials of the country.
