Omani authorities have announced that some Indian, Chinese and Russian nationals will be allowed to obtain a non-sponsored tourist visa for Oman.

Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC) announced recently that non-sponsored tourist visas to enter Oman will be granted to citizens of India, China and Russia, who either reside in or hold an entry visa to US, Canada, UK and Schengen states.

“The visa applicant should be holding a passport valid for not less than six months,” Samer Ahmed al Nabhani, general manager commercial operations OAMC stated recently. Pointing out the terms and conditions for granting non-sponsored tourist visas for Indian, Chinese and Russian nationals, he said, “The applicant for the Omani tourist visa shall be a resident in or holding an entry visa to one of the following countries (US, UK, Canada, Australia and Schengen countries) provided that his/her residence or visa in these countries is valid upon filling the visa application.”

The visa applicant shall have a return ticket and a confirmed hotel reservation in order to be granted the visa. “The visa can be availed of as well by the spouse (husband/wife) and children of the visa holder as long as they are accompanying him/her even if they do not hold a visa from these countries,” stated the official.

The fees for the visa, which will be granted for a period of one month, will be RO20. However, competent authorities may prohibit the citizens of these countries who meet the terms and conditions for obtaining a visa, from entering the sultanate, if the public interest so requires.

Further, any person who avails of such a visa facilitation and has breached the regulations will be blacklisted and prohibited from entering the Sultanate of Oman and will be made to pay fines in accordance with the terms and provisions of the Foreigners’ Residence Law and the Executive Regulations thereof, stated the official.
