State Council bureau reviews study on research linkages
The State Council bureau on Monday discussed the proposals of the Education and Research Committee on the study of ‘Empowering researchers in academic and research institutions and linking them to industrial and commercial institutions’.
The meeting was chaired by H E Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh al Mantheri and held in the presence of bureau members and the secretary general of the council. The meeting hosted H E Dr Abdullah Mubarak Salim al Shanfari, head of the Committee of Education and Research and H E Dr Rashid Abdullah Masoud al Yahyai, rapporteur of the Committee for deliberation on the study.
The study aims to review the works of researchers in academic and research institutions, legislations governing research and access legislation and experiences of some of the leading countries in this field, and the challenges.
During the meeting, the bureau discussed the report of the Special Committee to review the annual report of the State Financial and Administrative Control Authority for 2015.
The bureau also discussed the draft law(s) approved by the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council and a proposal to distribute the laws issued before the issuance of the statutes of the State within the council’s jurisdiction.
The bureau was briefed on the Council of Ministers response to the studies submitted by the State Council on ‘Civil society organisations from the legislative and supervisory perspective’ and ‘The mechanism for developing the role of Omani women's associations’.
It also reviewed the report of the General Secretariat on the role of the Traffic Law in reducing accidents and protecting life and property.
Members were also given a presentation on the ‘Philosophy of education in the Sultanate of Oman’.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the bureau fixed the date and agenda for the 10th and 11th regular meetings of the second annual session of the sixth term.
