Surcharge on customers using cards against the law: PACP
The Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) has said that levying surcharge on bank card purchases is against the law.
It said that the use of electronic payment devices is part of the operating expenses of merchants.
“The commission imposed on traders by the bank for the use of electronic payment devices is a part of the operating expenses and cannot be added to the cardholder,” PACP said.
PACP said that it will take legal action against all those who violate the law.
