The heat is on as three cities record 47°C
Three cities in Oman recorded the season’s highest temperature at 47°C on Monday. Buraimi, Rustaq and Sur registered 47°C, Musannah 46°C while Muscat recorded 45°C.
An official from the Met office said, “There is a heatwave in many parts of the country but this is quite normal during this time of the year. We expect the temperature to rise further in the coming days. The heatwave depends on the direction of winds.”
The official said Muscat may expect slight fall in temperature maybe by 2°C. “Winds from the coastal areas will lead to more heat in the next 24 hours. Monsoon rain has started in India, and Salalah too will witness rainfall in the coming days.”
