Letters to the Editor: Second successive victory for Oman
(Muscat Daily, Nov 11, page 12)
I want to congratulate the players, coaches, support staff and the board members of Oman Cricket for their recent win in both the outings of the ICC World Cricket League Division Three at Amerat against Kenya and Singapore.
The bowling department, as usual, looked in good form but the batting department still needs to improve.
I fully agree with the concern expressed by Oman’s coach Duleep Mendis. The team should have chased the target with more comfort and ease.
On certain occasions, I, as a supporter of the team, was quite shocked at the soft dismissal of some of our top batsmen at crucial moments of the game.
Dropped catches too at times are worrying. Looking at the form of some of the batsmen during these two games , I felt the need of one more specialist batsman or a batting all-rounder in the side to fill the gap, but unfortunately we do not have any specialist batsman sitting in the dugout.
Perhaps injuries to some of our good batsmen could be reason that the selectors could not have the luxury of doing that.
The team is shaping very well and I am sure that Oman will top the table and move in the ranking to Division Two. Two more wins and the promotion to Division Two looks quite likely. So all the best boys for your outing against Denmark, Uganda and the US.
Get ready to pave your way into Division Two in grand style and I wish team Oman gives a tough time to the existing teams of Division Two.
