Ahmad al Harthy and Oman Racing Team had a forgettable season so far in the competitive Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup as they failed to climb the podium in four of the five rounds.

With the fifth and final round set to be hosted at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain, on September 29-30, Ahmad hopes that he “could finish the season on a high with a podium finish” along with his teammates, Euan Mckay and Charlie Eastwood, .

After four rounds, the trio are placed eighth in the Endurance Cup Silver Cup standings with 37 points.

At the last meet in July during the Total 24 Hours of Spa, Oman Racing Team was forced to retire just three hours into the race.

The team made a strong start to the season in Monza, Italy, with a fifth-place finish, the same result that was achieved at the Silverstone meet in the second round.

The trio then was unlucky to miss a podium in the six-hour third round at Paul Ricard in France, as they came fourth.

Despite the disappointment of the previous round at Spa, Ahmad is looking forward to a successful final round.

“Our first season in the Silver Cup was always going to be a major challenge but I’m happy with what we’ve achieved so far – everyone at Oman Racing has worked so hard,” said Ahmad.

“It has been a year of mixed fortunes out on the track, we’ve certainly experienced some bad luck along the way, but we’ve been competitive from the start and the podium has been getting closer and closer.

“It would be fantastic to end the season back on the Blancpain podium and we’re all striving to make that a possibility in Barcelona. We know we have the team, the car and the capability to do it if everything goes to plan, and that’s what we’re determined to achieve.”

The practice session will be on September 29 with the qualifying and the race a day later.
