A confident-looking Team Oman Air aims to capitalise on its winning start in the GC32 World Championship as it heads into the second round of the 2019 championship, which will be held in Lagos, Portugal, from Wednesday to Sunday.

Oman Air had claimed the top honours in the opening event at the GC32 Villasimius Cup in Sardinia, Italy, last month.

The Portugal championship marks the second event of the GC32 Racing Tour.

“It’s looking good for Lagos,” said Oman Air project manager and mainsail trimmer Pete Greenhalgh. “The team is up for it and we have all the bits and pieces to do the job – taking momentum into next event does no harm, that’s for sure.”

The crew comprises Greenhalgh, Nasser al Mashari, Stewart Dodson, skipper Adam Minoprio and Adam Piggott.

“It adds a bit of spice because it is a world championship event,” said Greenhalgh. “Some of the teams won’t be doing a full season so they will ramp it up for this event.”

Mashari said, “We have been training hard to turn the one or two weak areas we have into strengths, it is good to have some areas to focus on and improve.”
