Action from the match between Saham and Jalan

Defending champion Saham squeezed into the semifinals of the coveted His Majesty's Cup Football Championship on Monday night despite going down by a solitary goal to Jalan in the second-leg quarterfinal match at the Sur Sports Complex.

The defending champion advanced with an aggregate score of 2-1.

Joining Saham in the semifinals, the schedule of which is yet to be decided, are eight-time winner Dhofar and former two-time champions Al Suwaiq and Oman Club. Saham, which had won 2-0 at home during the first leg on December 15, failed to find the target against the upbeat hosts. Jalan scored the match-winner in the 35th minute of the game.

At the Sohar Sports Complex, despite playing a 1-1 draw with hosts Al Khabourah, former multiple-winner Dhofar progressed with an aggregate score of 4-2, having won the first leg at home 3-1.

Dhofar is aiming to match Fanja's record of nine HM's Cup titles and is one of the favourites along with Saham.

Suwaiq hung on for a 1-0 first-leg lead, thanks to an away goal, as it survived a huge scare from Al Salam to finish the second-leg match 2-2 at the Sohar Sports Complex and make it to the last-four stage on away goals rule, with the aggregate score of 3-2 going in its favour.

Oman, which last won the title in 1994, is making a dream comeback as it tamed Bausher 2-0 in the second-leg match at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, marching into the semifinals with a 5-0 scoreline.
