Jhdhamy to be Oman’s chef de mission for first World Beach Games
The Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) has named Ahmed al Jhdhamy, a senior sports administrator, as Oman's chef de mission for the inaugural 2019 ANOC World Beach Games, which will be held in San Diego, US, from October 10-15.
More than 200 nations are expected to take part in the Games with nearly 1,000 athletes taking part in 15 sports.
Jhdhamy is currently serving the Ministry of Sports Affairs (MoSA) as a director of marketing and is also the vice-chairman of the Oman Golf Committee (OGC).
Jhdhamy’s nomination as chef de mission was one of the several decisions taken during the OOC board meeting held on Sunday under the chairmanship of the acting OOC chairman Sheikh Saif al Hosni.
The board also set up an election supervisory committee and an appeals committee for the forthcoming OOC elections and also made changes to the OOC’s standing committees.
Ziyad al Balushi, Sheikh Usama al Rawas, Jamal al Nabhani, Adil al Mahrooqi and Mohammed bin Ilyas Faqir have been named as members of the election supervisory committee, which will decide the date of the OOC election.
The appeals committee will comprise Sheikh Younes al Yahya’i, Ismail al Hinai and Mohammed al Qasmi.
Also, Khalid al Adi, the OOC treasurer, has been appointed chairman of the marketing committee, Fareed al Zadjali, the OOC board member, has been named chairman of the Oman Sport and Active Society Committee; Mohsin al Masroori, the OOC board member, will be the chairman of the planning & follow-up committee and Saada al Ismaili, the OOC board member has been appointed the vice-chairperson of the Olympic Solidarity Committee.
