Let’s play! OCA set to be inaugurated on November 5

The state-of-the-art Oman Cricket Academy (OCA), one of the dream projects of Oman Cricket (OC), will be inaugurated by H H Sayyid Haitham al Said, Minister of Heritage and Culture, at the Al Amerat grounds on November 5. The new OCA building will also house the OC headquarters.

The academy comprises a gymnasium, meeting rooms, restaurant, prayer room, players’ dressing rooms and VIP sitting area. The indoor net practice arena consists of two fast pitches, two spin pitches and three normal pitches with lights and air-conditioning and dressing room facilities. The main OC ground is equipped with floodlights, electronic scoreboard, ten turf pitches while the other turf ground offers similar facilities besides five astro-turf and five turf pitches.

Madhu Jesrani, the OC secretary, said, “OCA will go a long way in promoting Muscat as a cricket training hub in the region.”


Besides HH Sayyid Haitham, who  is also the OC patron-in-chief, the opening ceremony will be graced by Sayyid Khalid al Busaidi, Minister of Diwan of Royal Court, as guest of honour, along with H E Sheikh Saad al Saadi, Minister of Sports Affairs and OC chairman Kanak Khimji.

ICC CEO to attend Dave Richardson, the chief executive officer of the International Cricket Council (ICC), will also attend the OCA opening ceremony, according to an OC press release on Wednesday.
