Local round-up: Contrasting wins for Salman Stores, Enhance Eagles

Imran Asghar Ali’s allround display steered Salman Stores to a thrilling 11-run win over Glory Bower Strikers in an Oman Cricket A Division match at Al Amerat recently.

Batting first, Salman Stores was reeling at 50 for four but managed to reach 116 before being bowled out in the 33rd over. Ali made a valiant unbeaten 49 off 75 balls.

Anup Rajan led the bowling honours for Strikers, claiming four wickets while Muhammed Rizwan and Vineet Rana bagged two wickets each. Strikers was reduced to 78 for five with Ali and Asim Kamal making key breakthroughs.

It slipped to 98 for eight and was bowled out for 105 in the 30th over.

Off-spinner Muhammed Azeem took the last three wickets for just six runs.

Imran and Asim also claimed three wickets each.

In another A Division game played at the same venue, MDC Enhance Eagles drubbed OCT Muscat by 67 runs recently.

Flourry George's allround show and Omkar Pramod Ozardekar's five-wicket haul including a hat-trick, were the stars for Eagles.

Eagles posted 218 for nine in 50 overs, thanks to George's unbeaten 53 and Pranav Mehta's 45. Parth Trivedi (33) and Jaison Manjila (31) also made vital contributions.

Faraz al Balushi bagged three wickets while Zubair al Balushi and Nawed al Balushi claimed two each.

OCT Muscat slumped to 91 for four after being 81 for one. Ozardekar's ripped through the all-Omani side with his spell as it was bowled out for 151 in the 37th over.

Nadeem al Balushi (37), Rafeeq al Balushi (32) and Shuaib al Balushi (31) were the leading scorers. George took three wickets for 28.

Nawed 2-39) beat OCT Muscat 151 all out in 36.2 overs (Nadeem 37, Rafeeq 32, Shuaib 31; Ozardekar 5-15, George 3-28).

Indian Social Club 245-5 in 30 overs (Mahek Asher 57, Shrey Wilson 54, Ansar Ansari 51 n.o., Chetan Mallaya 34; Kiran Joshi 2-24) beat Ernst and Young 143 all out in 18.4 overs (Muhammed Attique 31, Omer Sarfaraz 31; Shreyas 2-22, Mallaya 2-26, Wilson 2-34).

C Division: Basta CT 137 all out in 20 overs (Prasad Perulli 34, Chaitanya Ravindran 34; Issam al Balushi 3-26, Younis al Balushi 2-31) lost to OCT Seeb 138-3 in 17.2 overs (Sufyan Mahmood 56 n.o., Yousuf al Balushi 39, Issa al Balushi 33; Deepak Gakhar 2-12).

Black, Gordon are joint winners

Edward Black and Flash Gordon emerged as joint winners in the sixth race of the Muscat Road Runners (MRR) Winter Series recently.

A total of 72 participants took part in the 16km route around Bausher.

Black and Gordon came up with a time of 1hr:03m:16s while the third place went to Jerome Duboe in 1:06:50.

Asta Parker was on top in women's section and seventh overall in a time of 1:09:58.

The winner of the junior 3km race was James (16m:39s) with Ronan second in 17m:28s and Lucy third in 17m:38s. The next race will be on February 9.

Muzahir-Raza

Muzahir hits ton in record total of 408 for PSM

Pakistan School Muscat (PSM) captain Mohammed Muzahir Raza's has been in impressive form recently. The emerging allrounder displayed his potential during a recent Oman Cricket U16 league match as he slammed his second successive century to guide his team to a record total of 408 for four in 29 overs against MCCC-B recently.

Batting first, PSM piled up the huge score as Muzahir stroked 177 off only 79 balls, hitting 30 boundaries. Syed Waleed Bukhari (91 off 49) and B Asim (54 off 23) were the other leading scorers. 

MCCC-B side then folded for paltry 80 in the 21st over. Muzahir claimed three wickets for 14 runs while Sozhab Sohail bagged two.

In his previous match, Muzahir had also scored a century and picked three wickets against MCCC-A side.
