Maqsood to lead Oman in ICC WCL Division Three

Experienced Zeeshan Maqsood has been named the skipper of Oman that will compete in the ICC World Cricket League (WCL) Division Three in Muscat from November 9-20.

The WCL tournament is the first ICC 50-over tournament to be staged at the Ministry of Sports Affairs grounds in Al Amerat.

Besides the hosts, the six-nation competition will feature Kenya, Singapore, US, Uganda and Denmark. Coached by former Sri Lankan great Duleep Mendis, Oman will hope to emerge winner at home and has picked a squad that has quite a few allrounders.

Oman has also included Obaidullah, a teenager from Pakistan School Muscat, in the team reserves.

Oman will take on Kenya in the tournament opener on November 9.

Oman squad: Zeeshan Maqsood (captain), Khawar Ali (vice-captain), Aqib Ilyas, Jatinder Singh, Mehran Khan, Suraj Kumar, Jay Odedara, Muhammed Nadeem, Sufiyan Mahmood, Nester Dhamba, Badal Singh, Bilal Khan, Ahmed Fayyaz Butt, Kaleemullah.

Reserves: Obaidullah, Sindo Michael, Twinkle Bhandari, Wasim Ali.
