Oman beach soccer star Haitham dies at the age of 35
Oman football fraternity was in deep shock and mourning following the untimely death of national beach soccer star and goalkeeper Haitham Harib al Omrani on Saturday.
The experienced Oman international, aged 35, suffered a fall and was being rushed to hospital. However, he died on way to hospital on Saturday, according to national beach soccer coach Talib Hilal. Talib led the tributes and said that 'the death has stunned us.' “We lost a very young and talented player. He was just 35 and a regular member of the national team since Oman made their debut in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Italy, in 2011.
“Haitham was with us when we were crowned Asian champions in Doha in 2015. He played a big role in our gold-medal triumph and our qualification to the 2015 worlds in Portugal. He was also part of the squad for the 2019 worlds in Paraguay,” said Talib. Oman Football Association, the Ministry of Sports Affairs, his teammates, friends and sports scribes also took to social media to mourn the sudden death of a talented player.
