Oman’s Kaf among three Asian referees for U20 World Cup
Oman's Ahmed al Kaf is among the three Asian referees picked to officiate for the FIFA U20 World Cup in Poland, which will be held from May 23 to June 15.
Besides Kaf, the other two referees are Muhammad bin Jahari (Singapore) and Adham Makhadmeh (Jordan). There are ten other Asian officials who were picked and out of them two Omanis – Abu Bakar al Amri and Rashid al Ghaithi - will be in Poland as assistant referees, according to www.the-afc.com.
All the three referees officiated in the Asian Cup in 2019 and are regularly in charge of AFC Champions League matches, with Oman’s Kaf taking charge of the 2018 final second-leg tie between Persepolis and Kashima Antlers last November, where he was assisted by compatriots Amri and Ghaithi.
The other assistant referees are Koh Min Kiat, Abdul Hannan bin Abdul Hasim (both from Singapore), Ahmad Alroalle and Mohammad Alkalaf (both from Jordan). Other Asians appointed are VAR officials - Ammar Aljeneibi (UAE), Khamis Al Marri (Qatar) and Fu Ming (China) with Ilgiz Tantashev (Uzbekistan) as a support referee.
