Porsche Mobil 1 Super Cup: Al Faisal hopes for good show at Monza
A week after bagging crucial points at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium to boost his championship standings, Oman's Al Faisal al Zubair, will hope to continue his good run and look for an improved finish in the penultimate round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Super Cup at the iconic Monza Formula One circuit in Italy on September 2.
Al Faisal, who heads into the eighth and final European round of the prestigious one-make racing series, is currently placed 15th in championship standings with a total of 15 points among a strong grid of 39 drivers. In the seven rounds so far, Al Faisal has bagged points in five races so far.
The Lechner Racing Team Middle East driver had finished 14th at the Spa track last Sunday.
Al Faisal, who finished 12th at Monza in 2017 and tenth in the points, said, “I’m excited for Monza. I’ve been able to relax for a couple of days between Spa and the Monza race. Monza is a track I really like and we had a good result last year. I think i could look forward to another good result there.”
The series has held a race at the famous venue since 1998.
Drivers will be permitted on to the 5.793km circuit for practice on Friday. The 30-minute qualifying session takes centre stage on Saturday and the race begins on Sunday.
