Porsche Mobil 1 Super Cup: Luck deserts Al Faisal as his car suffers hit
Oman's leading racer Al Faisal al Zubair was on course for a top-ten finish at the Silverstone GP circuit on Sunday during the fourth round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Super Cup. However, an unfortunate incident saw his car hit by Italian rookie Gianmarco Quaresmini in the later stages of the race.
Al Faisal, however, managed to finish the race but had lost crucial time after the hit and could manage 27th place finish.
“A definite top-ten result was in store for us. I had a brilliant qualifying with a P11 and I had the race pace at the circuit.
Unfortunately, luck was not on our side. But we will bounce back and emerge stronger in the next round,” said Al Faisal.
The Lechner Racing Team Middle East racer added, “It was a bad race I guess. We were running 11th or 12th for the whole race and then, after the safety car restart, I got hit from behind by Gianmarco. It was 100 per cent his fault. He later came to me and admitted that. I could do nothing about that.
“After a good qualifying, I was feeling confident. I am disappointed that I did not get the result I deserved here.”
